Our Veterinarians

We pride ourselves in the level of service we offer our clients and hold ourselves to the highest standards in professional care.  Our team includes experienced veterinarians, attentive nursing staff, and the people you will most frequently speak with - our client services team.

  Dr. Daniel Mudrick, B.Sc., D.V.M.

Hospital founder and owner, Dr. Daniel Mudrick B.Sc., D.V.M., is a 1981 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. Dr. Mudrick spent several years in emergency and critical care medicine in Toronto, before opening the Clarkson Village Animal Hospital in Sept. 1987. He started his dream with one staff member, lots of perseverance, and a lot of hope. By caring for one patient at a time, the hospital continued to grow, and after several years had become large enough that an expansion was needed. In the winter of 2000 all of the facilities, including the surgical and diagnostic equipment, were upgraded in order to provide the highest level of health care for our patients.

Dr. Mudrick's family lives with a black and white dare-devil kitten, who plays with, amuses and sometimes terrorizes them all! They have shared their lives with several special pets over the years, whose portraits you will see throughout the hospital. Rosie is the newest addition, a 4 pound dog of completely unknown origin, but with a huge heart!

He knows first hand what it is like when your furry family member becomes sick and needs special veterinary attention.

During those rare times when Dr. Mudrick is not at the hospital he can be found hiking and spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading to stay current on the most recent advances in veterinary medicine.

"I realize that choosing a veterinarian is as important as choosing a family physician. Our caring, sensitive and dynamic staff will proudly discuss, diagnose and teach you what you need to know in order to make the best possible choices for your pet. We pride ourselves in effective communication and treasure the relationships we have with our clients and pets. We truly love what we do and welcome the opportunity to share this with you."

Dr. Susan Dewit-Kawiuk, B.Sc., D.V.M.

Dr. Dewit-Kawiuk graduated from the University of Guelph first with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Zoology, then with her D.V.M. degree in 1982. After several years of working with companion animals and horses in Southern Ontario, Dr. Dewit-Kawiuk found a permanent home here at the Clarkson Village Animal Hospital in 1992. Her many years of experience and warm personality have a comforting effect on our clients and their pets.

"You know your pets better than anyone and I take your concerns about their health seriously. I see each pet as a new family member since I consider my own dog a member of my family. By spending quality time with you and your pet, it allows me to discuss preventive health care as well as explain what are sometimes complex medical issues in plain English."

Dr. Kirsten Prosser, B.Sc., B.V.M.S.

Dr. Prosser earned her Bachelor of Sciencedr mc

from the University of Guelph. She then traveled across the globe to study in Perth, Australia. She graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Honors. Immediately after graduation, Dr. Prosser became a member of the Clarkson Village Animal Hospital health care team. She left the hospital for one year to pursue an internship at the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Group in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Proseer is excited to be rejoining the CVAH family  and for the opportunity to share all that she has learned to offer the best possible care for your pet. Dr. Prosser currently lives in Mississauga with her husband and their two furballs - Fleur the blind kitten and Gilbert the rugby field stray. Dr. Prosser married her sweetheart of 10 years on August 29, 2009.

Dr. Annatasha Bartel, B.Sc.H., B.V.M.S, M.R.C.V.S. Dr. Bartel graduated in 2002 with an honours degree in animal biology from Queen’s University. She then went on to study veterinary medicine at the Royal School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. After graduation, Dr. Bartel went to work at a small animal veterinary hospital in Florida before joining the Clarkson Village Animal Hospital team.  Dr. Bartel’s veterinary interests include neurology, ophthalmology and emergency critical care medicine and she has a special place in her heart for all Jack Russell Terriers. Outside the office, Dr. Bartel lives to travel, is a member of the Art Gallery of Ontario, is a fervent fan on international rugby and volunteers to visit Brownie troops to teach young girls about responsible pet care. Originally from Toronto, Dr. Bartel is happy to be back in the city after an eleven year absence and lives with her grey & white cat, BW, who loves to bird watch and dig up plants.
