Our Team

Registered Veterinary Technician

Katherine, R.V.T.
Katherine graduated with honors from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in 2008. She has worked at our animal hospital as a patient care attendant and is happy to now be a full-time member of our nursing team working as a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Katherine is the proud owner of a Brittany Spaniel named "Maya". Althought Maya is almost 6 years old, she has a lot of "puppy" left in her and is happiest when surrounded by people. Maya is extremely affectionate and is a very spoiled and valued member of her family. Although she doesn't know if, Maya has to share her family's affection with her sister "Shirley" the pet hamster.

In her spare time, Katherine enjoys going to the movies, taking an evening walk through Rattray Marsh with Maya, camping and cottaging with her boyfriend, Gordon. Together they enjoy canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling and scenic boat and ATV rides.

Client Services

Taina
You and your family will always be greeted by a warm and sincere smile. From the time you meet Taina you will be confident that you have come to the right place. Taina started with Clarkson Village Animal Hospital in 1996 as a patient care attendant. Her sparkling personality soon made us realize she belonged at the front desk, where she became head receptionist.

Taina has a talented border collie cross named "Shiloh" who is 12 years old, a 12 year old cat named "Tigger", and a chihuahua named "Gucio", who is now 6 years old. Shiloh’s trick repetoire consists of speaking and whispering on command (it comes in handy when she is teasing the cat). Unlike most cats, Tigger enjoys water and will often be seen taking a bath or wrestling and snuggling with Shiloh. Gucio makes up for his small size with a big attitude and always makes his presence known.

Pet behaviour is no strange topic to Taina. Shiloh’s past escapades include eating a garbage bag full of rib bones and chewing up any unattended clothing or shoes. Taina considers herself to be a survivor of pet separation anxiety – not to mention having an expensive "taste" for shoes.

Vanessa

van
Vanessa joined the Clarkson Village Animal Hospital family in 2000. Anyone who has had the privilege of meeting her knows she has a special "knack" for welcoming you to our home. As our "spirit committee," her enthusiasm shines even on the busiest of days. Vanessa regularly ensures that our appointments run smoothly, and that your needs are taken care of as quickly as possible. Vanessa is now the coordinator of our reception team.

"One of the best aspects of this job is that I get to meet and develop new relationships with our clients. I especially enjoy helping to care for those pets who are a part of your family, as my two are a part of mine."

Vanessa has two children (as seen in the picture). Winston is a 11 year old Wired Hair Fox Terrier and Copain, who is also 11 years old and is a cross between a Schnauzer and a Cairn Terrier (she thinks). One special quality they both have is that they are bilingual. They were adopted from a rescue society in Quebec, but were both quick to learn the English language. Vanessa believes that she has 2 very smart boys, who love to do tricks for treats!

Alex alex 09

Growing up, Alex was always surrounded by a medley of pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and dogs. Her 3 dogs were Bouviers name Bear & Spunky and a rescued Stafford Terrier named Ben. These days her heart belongs to a quirky Duck Tolling Retriever named Mulder, Sam who’s a Newfoundland and a cat named Harry.

Time goes by very fast when you’re having fun.  Especially for Alex, who had a baby girl on December 18th 2007 and has recently returned to us this past November.

“Walking through the doors for the second time was exciting, learning about all the new things that have been improved since I have been gone.  I am looking forward to seeing all your friendly faces again and introducing myself to all the new ones too.”

Alex is very happy to have returned to the Clarkson Village team, and she is always happy to help you in any way.

AshleeAshlee 2010
Ashlee is an energetic addition to the team.  If you haven’t met her yet, she will be one of the first to greet you & your furry family member. She has a strong background in client service and is learning more and more about veterinary medicine everyday.

She has always had a love for animals & has grown up surrounded by family pets.  Ashlee now has two young cats of her own, Romo & Roxy, who love to carry apples & bananas around the house.  They also help out by watching after their pet turtle, Squirt.

Patient Care Attendants

tam n tay

Tammy
As a gymnastics coach, Tammy has brought her big heart and multi-tasking ability to our hospital. She assists with patient care and has been known to sneak in an extra cuddle or two. Tammy also understands the importance of a clean facility and is fondly known as the "Queen of Clean".

Tammy has a medly of pets of her own. She has a spoiled beagle named "Taylor", "Bunny" the rabbit who she rescued 10 years ago from under a car, "Max" the grey kitty who sits up and begs for food like a dog, and "Penny" the calico who made herself at home (and never left) last summer. Even though Penny is the newest addition, she quickly became the boss of the household.

Bert
Bert has been a long-standing fixture within our patient care staff since 1999 and has developed an incredible rapport. He brings not only his talents in caring for our patients, but also a great sense of humour. When we let Bert out of his kennel, he enjoys biking and troubleshooting our computers.

Bert has a dog named "Buddy," fondly referred to as the "big yellow dog that forgot to stop growing". He is a 11 year old yellow lab who loves to go for walks and play ball. Buddy lives with "Evinrude" a 7 year old tabby cat who considers him to be his best friend. Like the beginning of many pet stories, Evinrude was a stray who demanded to be let into Bert’s house and then claimed it as his own! You can see a picture of Evinrude in our Cat Photo Gallery.

Professional Pet Groomer

Kelly
Kelly loves to pamper pets. As our in-house groomer, she takes pride in not only making pets look great, but also feel good. We all know how great we feel after a haircut, and it’s no surprise that our pets feel the same way.

With admirable patience, Kelly strives to make sure your pet’s experience is as enjoyable as possible. Although she grooms all breeds, she especially adores shih-tzus just like her own little "Pooter". Kelly has also recently adopted a playful boxer named "Bentley". She will thoroughly shampoo your pet while removing loose hair and turn your pet into the talk of the town.

Kelly is also a graduate of Sheridan College's Animal Care Program so you know that your pet is in extra special hands.
