Dr. Alex Warrak

Veterinarian

(Practice exclusive to surgery)

From a young age, Dr. Warrak dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. He grew up on a small family farm, and he was surrounded by animals. Not just cats and dogs, but also chickens, goats, cows, horses, as well as salamanders, frogs and insects! His major breakthrough was when he lost his beloved dog to unknown causes. At 16-years-old, the pursuit of becoming a veterinarian crystallized in that moment of grief.

In 1991, Dr. Warrak graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. After graduation, he did a surgical internship at Alfort veterinary school in Paris, France. His passion for surgery was above all, so he decided to go back to Brazil to work at a private practice for a couple of years, immersing himself in the field of surgery through academia. Dr. Warrak completed his Masters at the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brazil, a PhD at the University of Zurich, and then completed the ACVS Approved Small Animal Residency Surgical Program at the University of Illinois. His work was also awarded as Best Research Paper by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005!

Dr. Warrak has more than 15 years of experience in the field of Small Animal Surgery in academia and private practice. He was a faculty member at the University of Montreal and was involved in research at the UHN, SickKids, and Western University. He has performed advanced soft tissue, orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures. His clinical approach is to focus on the individual case, as every patient has their own specific treatment.

In his spare time, Dr. Warrak dedicates his energy to his family and animals. He loves to cook, listen to music, travel, practise Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and learn different languages.

Dr. Warrak is looking forward to meeting you and your furry family members!
